Therapy Dog Certification Class (334)
Studies show that a person holding or petting an animal will cause a lowering of blood pressure, the release of strain and tension, and can draw out a person from loneliness and depression. In this class, you will have the opportunity to have your dog certified as a Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog. You and your dog will be certified to be a therapy team by Therapy Dog International (TDI), if you pass the testing requirements. Your dog must be at least a year old to be tested, must be friendly toward other dogs and people, and the instructor prefers that you and your dog have completed at least one obedience training class. The last class will be individual appointments to do a practice test with the instructor. Bring your dog to class, and it is suggested that you also bring treats for your dog. The class fee includes the $20 evaluation expense. This class will be led by OLLI member Bonnie Mercure. The class maximum is 10.
