Presidential Leadership: Decline and Courage (351)

Perhaps no American institution on the political landscape has undergone more change in the past several decades than the presidency. This course will examine changes in the institution by reviewing examples of leadership decline and on occasion presidential courage since 1960. During our five weeks, we will examine the following administrators: Kennedy/Johnson, Nixon, Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush. Course lectures will be supplemented with articles. The class will be led by attorney, adjunct professor and freelance journalist Jim Johnson.
