(261)This I Believe: Writing a Personal Belief Essay
From 1951 to 1955, Edward R. Murrow hosted This I Believe, a daily radio program in which Americans, both well known and unknown, read five-minute essays about their personal philosophy of life. This I Believe, Inc. is again inviting Americans of all ages and all perspectives to examine their belief systems and then write a 350- to 500-word essay about the beliefs that guide their daily lives. You will read and listen to the beliefs of others, and then write and share your own personal philosophy. Please purchase This I Believe: The Personal Philosophies of Remarkable Men and Women prior to the first session. (The paperback edition is $10.20 on amazon.com.) Also, bring a notebook to class. The class will be led by retired teacher and OLLI member Joe Bogar.
