OLLI Summer Reading Book Club (117) Take a break from the heavy books and settle back with some lighter (but still thought-provoking) ones. We will begin with The Way I Found Her by Rose Tremain, a tale of a teenage boy determined to locate a bewitching Russian author. (“This book lingers in the memory like a good European vacation,” writes one critic.) This book should be read before the first session. Next is Elizabeth Von Arnim’s The Solitary Summer, “a witty, lyrical account of a rejuvenating summer.” Our final selection, About a Boy by Nick Hornby concerns a man who pretends to have a two-year-old son in order to attract women. The book club will be led by OLLI member Rose Kohut, an obsessed reader. Rose does have some extra copies of The Solitary Summer that registrants can borrow. Savor the joys of reading!
Three Wednesday Mornings: July 7, August 11 & September 1 from 10 a.m. - noon Price: $22 Members; $44 Non-Members Room: C143 |
