Bay County History: Famous People, Events & Products (365)
In this series, you’ll learn about people with Bay City connections who have achieved national prominence - from abolitionist James G. Birney and financier James E. Davidson to author Ed Jablonski, General Oscar Westover, actor Tyler McVey and pianist Kevin Cole. The second session examines items made in Bay City and sold throughout the world - from ships, cranes, ready-cut homes, bicycles, to cigars and the famous barrel used by local dance teacher Annie Edson Taylor to survive her trip over Niagara Falls. The last session will focus on Bay City in the headlines, including historic events and calamities like the Sauk Indian Massacre of the mid-1600s, the South End fire of 1892, the brief visit of Bonnie and Clyde, and much more. The class will be led by Dave Rogers, historian and author.
